About the program

In 2017, Dr. Baumel started utilizing medical scribes in his practice.  His medical scribes are typically premedical students with an interest in pediatrics.  They accompany him to every visit, record the note and interact with patients.  They get to know the families very well and become an integral part of the care team.

The scribe program is a win-win-win. I love that I can pay full attention to my patients, the patients and parents appreciate that as well and my scribes get invaluable clinical experience as they start their medical careers.

I studied biology and computer science at Boston University and am now enrolled in a Master's program through Tufts Medical School. I developed an interest in pediatrics after shadowing clinicians and completing clinical research regarding patient feedback at Boston Children's Hospital. I hope to attend medical school upon completing my time with Dr. Baumel!

I love working with Dr. Baumel! I learn so much from him and his interactions with families. It gives me a behind-the-curtain look at what it might be like when I complete my own medical training! This experience has truly inspired how I see myself practicing as a pediatrician.
